Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. Without our amazing volunteers, everything we strive to do would not be possible.
There are many ways you can volunteer at CHALK. We have volunteers who help with up-cycling preloved furniture, serving customers in our shops, delivering and collecting furniture, fundraising, administration and some get their hands dirty in the community garden.
Volunteers play a leading role every year at our Open House Community Christmas Day – whether that’s delivering leaflets, decorating the hall, peeling the parsnips or befriending a guest, everyone’s contribution is valuable. What better to way to give something back this Christmas?

We offer work placements for young people over the age of 14. We have built up a good rapport with local schools and colleges, encouraging work experience students to spend time with one or more of our community projects – learning new skills and gaining confidence.
The aim is to boost self-confidence by talking to new people, doing jobs that they may never have done before – such as up cycling furniture, admin, retail and fundraising activities. Our work experience placements are a great way for young people to improve their job prospects and experience working within the community.
If you are interested in work experience with us, please get it touch.
