Alert Furniture Scheme
ALERT Furniture Scheme provides free furniture to those re homed from homelessness, fires or those unable to purchase furniture due to poverty and crisis.
it is our belief that the living environment of a person affects their mental health and wellbeing. Lack of basic home comforts can have a serious detrimental effect on all of these factors. The ALERT project allows donated furniture, which may otherwise have gone to landfill to reach families who are living in furniture poverty.
Every child should have a bed, every family should have somewhere to gather and eat. Reports show that a positive living environment can help towards creating a more stable life.
How does it work?
Employment agencies, housing associations and social services refer clients to Alert Furniture Scheme. Although you can refer yourself, a friend or family member. We ask no questions, we do not pry into a persons private circumstances; to ask for help can be difficult enough. We collect items free that have been donated by the public and then deliver them free to the client.
What can I donate?
Many of our clients have been housed from homelessness or crisis, which has left them with no furniture. We therefore accept everything you might need to set up home i.e. sofa, bed, chest of drawers, wardrobe, coffee table, bedding, bookcase, curtains, crockery, kettle and the list goes on!
All we ask is that you ensure that all items you donate are clean and in good working order.
All sofas must have fire safety labels still attached.
