It’s nearly that time again. The days are getting shorter and the season is here for snuggling under blankets whilst some lovely comfort food bubbles on the stove.
But the coming months are not so cosy for some. Christmas can be the hardest time of the year for others.
This year will be the fourth year of Oswestry Christmas Day Open House. For those of you who don’t know, Open House provides a free three course meal, entertainment and gifts on Christmas Day for anyone in the local community who wants to come along. The aim of the project is to tackle social isolation and poverty in the festive season.
Not everyone has family to spend time with at Christmas, some are struggling to keep themselves warm and fed and there are many children in Oswestry who won’t be getting a visit from Santa this year without your help. Not only do we provide a Community Christmas Day at the Centre on Oak St, we also deliver Christmas dinners and gifts to families in Oswestry who could not enjoy the comfort of Christmas that many of us take for granted, without the incredible support of the local community.
Once again, we need your help.
To make the day happen, we need volunteers before and on the day as well as donations of gifts, decorations and non perishable food.
There is an additional way you can help this year- by helping us to raise the vital funds to keep our project going. You can help by using the poster above to encourage friends and family to donate £5 to Open House and write their name on a dinner plate bauble. Each bauble filled pays for a three course meal on Christmas Day for someone in the local community.
Instead of sending cards this year, why not give the gift of a Christmas dinner?
Download and print your fundraising poster via the link below. If you can’t print it yourself, we can print it out for you and even post it to you.
We want to thank everyone in the local community for your incredible support over the years.
Your generosity is overwhelming every year and we couldn’t do it without you!
You can register to volunteer on the Open House page of this website or by giving us a call on 01691 655895
